SCRATCHBOARD

XACTO BLADE // INDIA INK+CLAY-COATED PANEL (+OCCASIONAL OILS)
UNTITLED COLLECTION
scratched ink + oil + metal leaf

This is a collection-in-progress, and represents a time of play in my life. After completing a large collection of serious works in black and white scratchboard, these pieces are my attempt to blend multiple mediums and "get out of my head" for a bit.

IN TIMES OF TROUBLE
scratched ink

This collection explores the iconic and sometimes solemn imagery found in the photographs of our American history: World War II
The Great Depression, The Civil Rights Movement, and more - images both of protest and celebration. By working from photographs taken
during the mid-twentieth century, I honor the generation that rose against racism, segregation, war and famine in America.
By bringing these images to light in a new way, I hope they will serve as a celebration of what was accomplished,
a reminder of what still must change, and a call to move forward, equal, together.

This collection was made possible, in part, with support from the 2017 Impact Award/Emerging Artist Grant from Creative Pinellas.

OLDER & PERSONAL WORKS

Here is a mish-mash of some personal work, and some of my very first collection, The Historians, which was the beginning of my
"scratchboard career". In fact, Boy With Monkey Vase was my first piece ever, after a handful of scratch-disasters.
